Guild Swap

by Nora Melzer, Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild, BC, Canada

This is a mini quilt I made for a guild swap. We had to use Guild colours, solid fabrics only, and the size could not be more than 10x10 inches. I loved the Hawaiian shirt pattern but I wanted more of a T-shirt look. I made the V-neck T-shirt with a bias strip of green silk, with another bias strip for the hem. The rest are Kona cotton solids. The pattern is the perfect size for mini projects like this. Thank you!

Family Tree

by Shanda Finnigan, Richmond, VA

My stepmother has made a quilt (or two) for everyone in our family (5 kids + their spouses and 9 grandkids), and I decided that I should make her a quilt in return. Your Family Tree design was exactly what I was looking for...I used it as a guide to create an expanded version that was roughly 46 x 68 inches, with 19 hearts and one in the middle for my dad and stepmom. I got all 9 grandkids and 10 kids/spouses to secretly sign their names and then we presented it to her the next night. She was floored and loved it. This was my first quilt project, my first quilt design, and I certainly learned A LOT! I would definitely do a better job with the design on round two, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! Yes, I screwed up the bottom, but by the time I realized it, I had already sewn everything together. My stepmom says no quilt is ever perfect, so I’m trying to let it go!

Plumeria Table Runner

by Laura Charette

"Quilted" on Babylock Sashiko machine. I had a jelly roll of random green fabrics, so I subdivided some of the leaf sections to be less than 2 inches. Pattern was perfect!

Little Red Hen Bag

by Susan Trogdon

My 2nd ever piecing project. This last year I've gotten into quilting. It's been a lot if fun. That hen of yours taught me some huge lessons in piecing! Thank you for your wonderful patterns! My sister-in-law loved her bag.

Violins

by Emily Butler

I finished piecing the violin today. The one with the green borders is the one I plan on finishing out as a quilt. The pink and blue one was my test to see if I could do it. The fiddle contest is coming up in April and now that the hard part is done I feel like the rest of the quilt will be a breeze to finish before then. I stitched the strings on with just about the shortest stitch length my machine would do. I think when I do the darker one I'll use some thicker upholstery thread for strings G, D, and A. Then regular thread for the E string. Thank you for creating such a wonderful pattern. I showed the panel to the adult leaders of the junior fiddler group this evening and they were blown away by the detail you put into creating the pattern. I hope as my kids grow I'll have more freedom to try out more of your patterns.

Heart Wreath

by Renee Neuens

Here is a photo of the completed project. It turned out very sweet. It made me smile each time to saw it while I had it on my kitchen wall for the month of February.

Christmas Wreath

by Kathy Healey

I finished a Zoom class with Eileen Kisiki at Aurora Sewing Center this morning. She is a great teacher!  This is the second class I have taken with her on Zoom. She loves your patterns and so do I. Looking forward to trying your “Piece of Pie” pattern next.
