For the cart I used a printed tulip fabric--the
Netherlands are known for those flowers--and hand appliqued them on top. Just
one fell down and a cat is sitting alongside (also applique). My husband said

am fairly new to the internet and only recently figured out where some of the
quilters are. I particularly enjoyed your page. I have been doing traditional
pieced, applique and art quilts for years, but only recently started paper piecing.
I'm hooked! As an artist, I design many of my own designs but it's always fun
to try the blocks others create.

fun to do. I chose to fill mine with foundation pieced flowers so I drafted up
a few for it. I am working with smaller and smaller blocks and I am enjoying the

Over
a very early morning cup of coffee witha good friend it was decided that I should
see what I could do with my new Bernina Artista 180E.
To
do the flowers I first drew a line on the background material to match the top
of the cart. All the flowers were done above that line with the exception of the
bottom leaf of the mock orange. When the flower patterns were completed I used
Steam-A-Seam 2 behind the mock orange leaf so that it could be trimmed as close
as possible to the stitches. I also trimmed the bottom edge to allow for a seam
allowance. Then, sewing from both edges of the mock orange leaf to the outside
of the pattern the flowers were added to the cart. The mock orange leaf was then
pressed to the flower cart. After the cart and flowers were joined I then added
the morning glory and ivy to the cart.

Bernina Artista cards were used: Columbine, Sagebrush, Mock Orange, Peach Blossom,

I
am providing the cart block and two other blocks that will eventually become part
of a jacket. I have more blocks to do. All the blocks will be of a spring theme
and all will be paper-pieced.
Paper piecing
is one of my favorite activities. Great idea for a competition as it got me going
on that particular collection of fabric. Now if I could only get going on the
g-zillion other projects I have in mind to use the g-zillion yards of fabric I
own. Oh well, someday.

ride in the empty wheel barrow after the leaves have been dumped. At a combined

I
finished my cart, but with a twist. I made a pocket out of the cart, left it empty,
and now I can insert small silk flowers according to the change of season. I actually
made a second one, as well, with a darker cart and a green border with Christmas
poinsettias inserted into the cart. This picture came out best, however, (I think)

order to finish the flower cart pattern in time for the FIRST deadline :-) I decided
to make a decorated sweatshirt for my sister for Christmas! So am sending you
a scanning of it as an attachment. I plan to machine embroider butterflies around

probably only really possible for a nanosecond. I used most of the kitties I've
