UFO #3 ________
Snowflake Tree Skirt

PAPER-PIECING WITH SOME APPLIQUE
ADOPTED!

This is a VERY rough "virtual" rendition of what I was heading for.
That's a red bow swag all around (in case it's difficult to see).
There is no fabric in the ? areas yet--it's up to you!
See below for picture of "stuff."

State of Origin: California
Donor: Linda W
Makes: A hexagonal snowflake-and-bows tree skirt
Technique(s): Paper piecing on butcher paper, original design, NOT a printed pattern. Some applique and inset seaming.

Difficulty to resume: Difficult. I would recommend this project ONLY to an expert puzzler and paper piecer with an imagination. This is a complicated design, around 60% pieced--bows and spokes of the snowflake. You'll have to figure out color placement in the middle above the bows, because I don't have a clue anymore. Or, redesign that area, simplifying it. There's a sketch, but it does not match the pattern exactly. There is some applique and inset seaming. You'll have to fill in with some fabrics. The "right" person could still have a spectacular outcome, even if substitutions are made. I will answer questions to the best of my ability, but basically you are on your own.
Story: I was well underway making this tree skirt for my sister but I started too late, got overwhelmed, had a meltdown, and obviously quit before finishing it.
Contents: Many butcher paper pattern pieces, a high number of finished sections, etc. The original sketch (and enlargement) of 1/6 design, but the sketch is not exact. Some fabric that goes with it, but amounts are surely insufficient. A very rough, numbered, placement diagram. I stapled pattern pieces and pieced sections together. I'll print out the virtual layout above and anything else I might have that could help.

Only crazy people need apply!
