Mystery Block #47 Solution________
March 2008  .  8"x 8 "

whatzit... (the kitty)

The first few people who sent me pictures thanked me sincerely for the"cute kitty."
From there, people got increasingly fuzzy about what this was. About half would not

commit to a guess, saying they couldn't tell what it was. A couple people thought
it was a dog (it does sorta look like a stripey pekinese).
For me it was a surprise lesson about the limits of abstract simplification and
inadvertently playing with people's expectations. (He's still just a "cute kitty" to me...!)

The first finisher to e-mail me was Michelle Ownbey.
Other finishers who let me know, in order, include:

Pat Miller, Denham Springs, Louisiana
Marjorie Keller, Strasburg, North Dakota
Lana Frazier, Morrison, Oklahoma
Birdie in Maryland
Candace Weisner, Colchester, United Kingdom
Julie Waldman
Joyce Steier, Maryland
Mary Schneckenburger, New Hampshire

Kathy and Julie, Washington
Judy Larson, Warroad, Minnesota

Marie-Francoise Marchand-Marrec, France
Lori Lutzow, Antiguo, Wisconsin

and lots of others who did not officially weigh-in...
